Japan Opens World’s Second Osmotic Power Plant in Fukuoka
Japan has unveiled its first osmotic power plant in Fukuoka—the second of its kind globally—harvesting the natural energy produced when saltwater and freshwater are merged across a membrane. The facility is expected to generate approximately 880,000 kilowatt-hours per year, enough to support the operations of a local desalination plant providing fresh water to Fukuoka and surrounding areas. Unlike many renewables, osmotic power offers continuous output, since it does not rely on weather or daylight. While challenges remain—such as losses tied to pumping and membrane friction—the Fukuoka plant uses concentrated seawater (brine) from desalination processes to improve efficiency, marking an important proof of concept for larger‐scale implementation.

The HiSAP (i.e., High-Rate Stabilization & Activation Processes) Technology can avoid all problems of traditional Composting methods and overcome drawbacks of other new developed technologies. Main principles of HiSAP are using thermal conversions, free radical stabilization, and activation methods to convert all biodegradable organics into nutrients and thermal energy, and the relatively nonbiodegradable organics are converted into organic fertilizers and plant growth stimulants. The recovered energy is used to further hydrolyze, stabilize and activate the recycled products. HiSAP System is a revolutionary process comparing to traditional Composting which has been used by farmers without much improvements for at least 4 thousand years in historical records.

About US
Ecotech Research Center (ERC), a California-founded global ecological protection enterprise, offers proprietary technologies addressing the seven most urgent ecological problems:
global warming, desertification, and water, air, solid waste, land, and agricultural pollution.
In the Global Warming Protection field, ERC has developed three major IPs aimed at achieving zero emissions before 2030 and meeting the IPCC’s 1.5℃ climate goal well ahead of 2050.
In the Circular Economy field, ERC owns over 20 IPs designed to address various ecological challenges.
We are a growing company with a team of experts and clean technology enthusiasts. We believe that ecological protection can be both environmentally sound and economically beneficial.
ERC aims to revolutionize technologies for organic waste treatment and renewable energy.
